WHAT: An open mic community forum with a panel of government officials and industry professions to discuss water usage plans and water supply in Georgia

WHEN: Wednesday, December 5th, 2007, 7pm – 8:30pm

WHERE: City of Alpharetta – City Hall
2 South Main Street, Alpharetta, Georgia 30004

Atlanta, GA – Much of North Fulton County is under a Level 4 drought warning and water has been heavily restricted as Georgia’s worst drought on record continues. Estimates range from 3-6 months on Georgia’s water supply and residents and businesses are being adversely affected by the shortage.

A panel of local and state government officials, task force planners and industry professionals will join together for a public forum panel discussion on Wednesday, December 5th at 7pm. The panel will include State Senator Ross Tolleson (R-20), Fulton County District 3 Commissioner Lynne Riley, Charles McMillan (President of Engineering and Land Planning Firm AEC, Inc.), Georgia Irrigation Association President Ed Klaas, The Weather Channel Severe Weather Expert Dr. Greg Forbes, Russell Landscaping Owner Teddy Russell, Rick Gilma of Killer Creek Car Wash and one undetermined seat. It will be moderated by local Atlanta talk radio personality Joel Aaron of WGKA. The goal for the evening will be to offer common-sense suggestions for residential and industrial water conservation and provide a forum for discussion about possible solutions to water supply shortages. The panel will answer questions from concerned citizens in the area.

For more information please contact Joel Foster, 920am WGKA, at 404-995-7329 or Robert Rokovitz, Assistant City of Alpharetta Administrator, at 678-297-6014.
